The Purchasing Agent will oversee and coordinate all purchasing activity including establishing purchasing policies, negotiating pricing, assisting with selection of vendors, creating and issuing bid packets and purchase orders, creating and issuing purchase orders, and all other activity required to ensure strong quality and high value product procurement within budget.
Responsibilities:
- Create and implement purchasing and contract management policies and procedures
- Collaborates with other departments and leadership to identify needs and requirements for materials, products, and delivery dates.
- Develop Purchasing Strategies that ensure high quality and value driven pricing
- Source vendors for needed items
- Create and issue bid packets
- Evaluate bid responses
- Assist in choosing a vendor, awarding contracts, modifying orders, and evaluating product performance
- Negotiates with vendors for goods and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee
- Ensures vendor acceptance of PO’s
- Coordinate the procurement schedule with the development schedule and ensures timely deliveries
- Create, issue, and close purchase orders
- Assist with vendor relationships
- Maintain supplier database, purchase records, and other paperwork.
- Maintain the price matrix to ensure accuracy on all current options and offerings
- Maintain rebate programs
- Provide analysis and reporting to Construction and Finance as needed
- Attend staff and other meetings as assigned

- Knowledge of purchasing best practices including logistics
- Good Technology Skills, Excel Knowledge is critical, Knowledge of Builder Trend preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing or related degree strongly preferred
- Purchasing experience 3+ years required, construction knowledge strongly preferred
