Alta Equipment Group is seeking a full-time Senior Analyst/Lead of SEC Reporting at our corporate headquarters in Livonia, MI. The Senior Analyst/Lead of SEC Reporting will be responsible for preparing the Company's external reporting documents and technical accounting policies and memos. The ideal candidate has technical accounting and SEC reporting experience, outstanding attention to detail and analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment for a growth-oriented public company. The position will report to the Director of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting and could be a great opportunity to step out of public accounting for the right candidate. As the Senior Analyst of SEC Reporting, you will be performing accounting and SEC reporting research while preparing all required SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, Section 16, and other ad hoc filings.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting/Finance
Minimum of 3 years of experience in public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and/or external financial reporting for a public company
Strong, current understanding of US GAAP and SEC reporting rules and regulations preferred.
SOX related experience preferred.
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
Capable of leading projects and working in a fast-paced environment
Outstanding attention to detail and demonstrate a high degree of accuracy
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Able to manage multiple priorities, work cross-functionally and meet tight filing deadlines.
Mathematical Skills - High: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability - High: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CPA preferred
Responsibilities
This position will have high exposure to executive management and to key finance and operations leaders across the company's global operations
Responsibility for the Company's external reporting process (with the SEC/NYSE/banks/auditors), including the preparation of financial statements, supporting schedules and related analysis, to ensure the complete and accurate compilation and reporting of financial data in accordance with US GAAP as well as developing, implementing and maintaining systems, procedures and policies to support the filing of Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, registration statements and proxy filings, amongst others.
Independently research and analyze accounting issues and disclosure requirements in accordance with US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements. Draft the Company's technical accounting memorandum as such.
Prepare key footnotes for 10-K/10-Q and ensure SOX compliance
Prepare quarterly GAAP and SEC disclosure checklists
Monitor accounting literature for new reporting requirements that may potentially impact the Company and change disclosure requirements
Participate in monthly close procedures related to certain Corporate areas (I/C elims, dividends, equity) including account reconciliations.
Work closely with key stakeholders in the development, revision, and maintenance of the Company's Financial Policies & Procedures to ensure disclosure accuracy.
Develop documentation of internal controls over financial reporting and perform the related internal evaluation of the controls.
Incorporate Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Act as a liaison with internal and external auditors on matters involving technical accounting, internal controls, financial policies, and SEC reporting
Participate and/or lead various Corporate Finance & Accounting projects to improve the overall efficiency, timeliness, and accuracy of financial close processes
