The School of Public Health (SPH) at the University of Michigan has long been at the forefront of thoughtful teaching and online education. We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and learner-centered Health Management & Policy Lecturer III (100% appointment) to join our team and contribute to our teaching mission. You will use your expertise in teaching and learning to provide an interactive and engaging experience for students enrolled in the School of Public Health Undergraduate program. This is a non-tenure track position, with a University Year appointment period (i.e., runs September 1 through May 31 each year). This position will be full-time and we anticipate the candidate will begin August 26, 2024. We anticipate an offer will be made in May 2024 and is subject to the approval of the School of Public Health Executive Committee.
A Lecturer III role in the School of Public Health is a combination of teaching and administrative duties over the 9-month academic year with the possibility of an additional spring/summer appointment. The initial appointment period will be one (1) to four (4) years, and the appointment is renewable (based on programmatic need, funding, and performance).
You will report to the Health Management & Policy Department Chair.
- Teach courses in the School of Public Health undergraduate program, which includes prepping course materials, facilitating course sessions, holding office hours, and grading assignments, and assist in the HMP programs with advising.

- PUBHLTH 381: Public Health Systems: Achievements and Challenges
- PUBHLTH 384: Creating Change in Public Health
- PUBHLTH 410: Making Change: Public Health Policy Advocacy in Principle and Practice
- PUBHLTH 411: Making Change: Experiential Learning in Effective Public Health Policy Advocacy
- PUBHLTH Electives on various topics
- Other applicable courses as necessary
- Serve as an academic advisor to an assigned group of graduate students
- Serve as an Applied Practice Experience and Integrated Learning Experience mentor to an assigned group of graduate students
- Participate in teaching and learning professional development activities
- Participate in HMP faculty governance
- MPH or PhD in Health Management & Policy, Public Health, or a related field
- Demonstrated expertise in the content of courses we are looking to fill, including public health systems and advocacy, policy advocacy and change
- 1 year of experience teaching at the college level
- 3+ years of college-level teaching experience with at least 1 year of experience teaching online
- Interest in developing and implementing anti-racist pedagogy
- Experience with curriculum development
