This role will design, perform, and execute research projects under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI). The research in the Hershenson lab focuses on immunologic aspects of respiratory viral infections and asthma. Successful candidates will help to advance our understanding developmental differences in the immune response to respiratory viral infections, and trained immunity. We expect candidates to perform independently and work closely with the team of researchers in the Hershenson lab as well as those of our collaborators. Projects will include the use of viruses, cell culture and experimental mouse models, pending training in animal use.
- Responsible for operation of a specialized laboratory with one or more faculty members within a department and/or works in specialized research area.
- Develops, designs and conducts one or more small or moderately complex research experiments in line with plan, reviews progress and evaluates results.
- Formulates research methods and suggests options for improving quality, identifies potential problems, recommends and implements solutions, and collaborates in the development of new techniques.
- Trains users in equipment operation and laboratory techniques, explains and demonstrates technology and equipment capabilities, operations, limitations and outcomes.
- Coordinates data collection and screening and verifies the data.
- Conducts analysis of data, interprets and implements research methodology based on outcome of analysis.
- Co-authors publications and may co-present results with Principal Investigator at meetings and/or conferences.
- Has oversight for day-to-day operation of laboratory and may supervise exempt and non-exempt research and support personnel.
- Required Qualifications Intermediate:
- Master's degree and 4 to 5 years related experience.
- Required Qualifications Associate:
- Bachelor's degree in related field 1 to 3 years related experience.
- Desired Qualifications Intermediate:
- Supervisory and financial management experience preferred.
- Experience with Pulmonology Research Preferred
- Desired Qualifications Associate:
- Master's Degree preferred
- Experience with Pulmonology Research Preferred
