BS in Materials Science, Metallurgical, Electrical, Mechanical, Ceramic, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Investment Casting.
Knowledge of vacuum systems, PLC
Knowledge of MS Office, excellent written and oral communication skills, able to work in a self-directed or team environment and have good organization skills.
Working knowledge of statistical analysis and SPC
Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and Process Management a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

This position is in our Plant 10, Howmet Casting Operation, and will support the manufacture of Single Crystal and Directionally Solidified product through process control and improvement initiatives specific to the casting process.
Position will be responsible for:
Ensuring the casting processes are performed in compliance with the methods, materials and equipment specifications as detailed in the BU Casting manual, business operation, and customer requirements.
Approve all new and revised instructions in the Casting area.
Responsible for determination of the root cause of any deviation from critical process specifications and provide technical support to Process Engineering to resolve Casting related issues.
Responsible for reporting the critical process status on daily and monthly basis to the Casting Business unit Process Owner.
Responsible for understanding downstream product quality as it relates to Casting and react appropriately to observed conditions.
Institute proper project monitoring, follow up and feedback system to ensure financial and contract targets are met (yields, rework).
Foster continuous improvement utilizing process management designed experiments, IPM and SPC, Cpk.
Demonstrates considerable ingenuity and creativity while recognizing prudent risk.
As a recognized expert in the Casting process technology area, provide technical guidance to management and peers in areas of current or potential needs of the plant.
Routinely review process for adherence to established techniques and to ensure the repeatability of approved process.
