EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP: Just cause subject to probationary period
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under direction, performs assessments, referrals and follow-up to community agencies; ensures prompt and complete clinical treatment services; conducts interviews and assessments of potential participants; secures grant funding; performs related duties as assigned to our Swift and Sure Sanctions Program or one of our Specialty Courts (including, but not limited to, Adult Drug Court, Mental Health Court, Veterans’ Treatment Court, OWI/Sobriety Court, or Family Dependency Court).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates treatment and service delivery activities for defendants as required.
Ensures compliance with applicable laws and procedures as outlined by the Specialty Courts’ programs.
Coordinates schedules and maintains records of periodic meetings relating to the Specialty Courts.
Reviews case files within required time frames.
Prepares case files and reports for Specialty Court sessions; appears at Specialty Court sessions to monitor attendance of participants and maintain communication with the Judges and Specialty Court team(s).
Conducts assessment interviews and prepares assessment reports.
Prepares case files, maintains records, utilizes case management system(s) and enters data.
Participates with various committees and organizations involved with program activities.
Prepares progress and statistical reports as required.
Applies for and manages grants to support the Specialty Courts.
Keeps current with all Specialty Courts and assumes the responsibilities of other staff in their absence.
Responds to inquiries from the community and the public regarding Specialty Court procedures and policies.
Maintains current knowledge base, licenses and certifications by participating in continuing education, attending workshops, seminars, conferences and reading related publications.
Operates an automobile while performing assigned duties.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or a related field

Minimum of three (3) years of substance abuse/mental health assessment, counseling and/or case management experience
Preferred Education and Experience
-
Previous experience with specialty, treatment, or problem-solving courts
-
Previous experience with social work or as a probation agent
Required Licenses or Certifications:
-
Current certification or a Professional Development Plan through the Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP)
-
Michigan Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) certification within four (4) months of employment

Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and operable, insured automobile for authorized travel

Administration, scoring and interpretation of quantitative instruments, such as SASSI, MAST, and DAST

Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office, Google applications, and other related computer applications
