Syndications Loan Analyst
We are seeking team-oriented Syndicated Loan operations candidates to join our team. The ideal candidate should understand the syndicated loans business and loan operation processing. Our syndicated operations professionals help build and handle the syndicated loan products, processes, and services. The candidate will be expected to liaise with internal business partners & clients across all areas within the bank's organization.
The Syndication team is a highly visible team serving as the primary day-to-day processing contact for the bank's Syndicated/ Sold Loans business which is the largest lending portfolio of the bank. Each staff owns his/her individual portfolio of borrower clients (30-40), whom they service daily. The team also works closely with Capital Markets, Relationship Managers, Group Leaders, Lending Assistants, and Corporate Risk, amongst others. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure that all required financial and administrative transactions/financial postings are appropriately reflected in the Banks systems (AFS) and records on an accurate and timely basis for both the customer and member banks. Capital Market Administrators interact daily with parties involved per the syndicated loan activities to provide work processing guidance, direction and assistance when needed.

Position Responsibilities:
The Syndications Loan Analyst has responsibility for managing a portfolio of lending facilities where Comerica acts as Administrative Agent and lead bank.
Comprehensive knowledge of the Syndicated Loan Market, especially as an Administrative Agent, and understands market conventions for managing the product.
In depth knowledge of Syndicated Lending Operations including loan servicing, Fedwire payments, General Ledger reconciliation, Construction Loans, revolving credit facilities, term loan facilities, etc.
Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for Syndicated and Commercial lending operations, as well as market initiative to streamline and automate loan servicing functions.
Ensure all lending transactions are processed and managed correctly, minimizing operational risks and losses, and ensuring compliance with all bank policies and procedures.
Comfortable managing all aspects of syndicated servicing, including interaction with senior internal and external stakeholders: Clients, Lenders, Issuing Banks, Business Partners, Front Office etc.
Manage a loan portfolio to include the review and analyzing, funding and daily operational activity for the bank's syndicated portfolio, including processing of Loan Advances, Loan Payments, All Maintenance Items - Including Rollovers/Repricing's, Conversions, Margin Changes and Other Operational Transactions.
Perform basic loan accounting and loan operational transactions daily.
Ensure all financial activities are in compliance with the bank's policies and procedures.
Investigation and resolution of queries, from internal business partners.
Monitor AFS system accruals to make sure our spreadsheet and AFS accruals (for borrowers and participating investors) agree. (Fees that can't be handled by AFS are computed by the Syndicated Loan Administrator. These fees include such things as facility fees, unused fees, special over-formula fees, utilization fees, etc.)
Review monthly billing statements to ensure accuracy to prevent unnecessary past due accounts.
Analyze daily, weekly, monthly exception reports to resolve any errors or maintenance items that may result in loss or place bank in a negative position.
Analyze loan processing documents for accurate processing and understanding.
Applies judgment when interpreting data, preparing reports, and presents findings to management when necessary.
Timely management, escalation and resolution of all requests / inquiries / issues / errors while maintaining SLA standards.
Day-to-day focus is on resolution of complex loan issues, where expertise is required to interpret against policies, guidelines, or processes.
Applies professional judgment, analytical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools and methodologies to make recommendations to management to support process improvement.
Support the execution and closing of complex syndicated loan transactions, including, but not limited to, new deals, refinancing, amendments, acquisition financings, and re-pricings.
Assist with ad-hoc inquiries from Business Partners, Controllers, Reporting, and Management
Periodically reviews the relevant procedures to ensure appropriate control and consistency.
Ensures adherence to all bank policies and procedures relative to Regulatory Compliance including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, Anti-Money Laundering Act, Privacy Act, Regulations Q& X, Customer identification Program, Know Your Customer, Suspicious Activity Reports.
Position Qualifications:
High School Diploma or the equivalent
3 years of college level accounting courses OR related experience
2 years of experience in commercial syndicated loan processing
2 years of experience with Excel and Word
2 years of experience analyzing and interpreting documents
