Summary of Position: | The College of Engineering Technology (CET) at Ferris State University invites applicants for a tenure track position in the discipline of Welding Technology (WELT) AAS and Welding Engineering Technology (WELE) BS programs. Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate-level lecture and laboratory coursework in process-oriented, “hands-on” AAS and BS degree programs. The successful candidate will have a broad background in welding processes, welding procedures, and technical problem-solving within the welding field. Coursework includes welding procedure writing, code interpretation, manual, semi-automatic and automated welding and weldment design and fabrication. This position requires the individual to develop and deliver lectures, demonstrate welding and related processes/equipment, and maintain laboratory facilities and equipment. Other responsibilities include assisting in program development, equipment selection, performing academic advising, recruiting students to the program, and serving on department, college, and university committees. Candidates must be willing to participate in a faculty team environment and maintain a working relationship with the welding industry. A professional development plan will be maintained as well as an active membership in the American Welding Society.
The successful candidate will also be instrumental in continuous improvement and curriculum development in accordance with ABET-ETAC accreditation criteria. Interfacing with industry and external agencies to direct the growth and development of the program will be expected in activities such as senior projects, grants, and advisory roles.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: | The primary professional responsibilities are teaching and the provision of counseling, library, and other educational services.
Faculty members also have professional responsibilities which may include advising students, orientation and registration of students, participation in University committees, keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for students), and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance (ex. reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time). Faculty members may be required to teach off-campus or in an on-line environment.
