We are seeking a Supplier Quality Technician to join our Quality team in our Traverse City, Michigan facility. The Supplier Quality Technician is responsible for inspection of all incoming parts and materials as well as work in-process goods. This individual will assist in supplier corrective actions and establishing inspection requirements. The position is responsible for calibration of measuring instruments and will engage with engineering, supply chain, production, and the supply base.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Receive & perform IQA inspections as required
Approve/deny incoming test data from suppliers
Perform inspections using basic instruments including micrometers, calipers, gage blocks and pin gages
Perform inspections using the Keyence Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)
Perform inspections using the profile projector
Coordinates inspections performed by other departments
Assist with Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) and Corrective Actions/Preventative Actions (CAPA)
Assist with supplier quality metrics:
Non-Conforming Product
Supplier Corrective Actions
Corrective Action/Preventative Action
Cost of Poor Quality
Inspect First Piece Sample (FPS) inspections and performs component qualification activities in a timely manner
Performs calibrations on basic instruments including micrometers, calipers, and torque drivers. Arranges for external calibrations of more advanced instruments
Other Responsibilities
Works with Quality Engineering to create and maintain inspection plans in accordance with material/component requirements
Willing to further knowledge base through classes, seminars, etc.
Participate on the Material Review Board
Help with R&D and vertical integration parts, as needed
Perform other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
High School diploma or GED required
Associate degree in technical field preferred
2 years of manufacturing experience required
Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Advanced Quality Process (AQP) tools preferred
Knowledge of quality related tools - SPC, APQP, PPAP, FMEA preferred
Experience in Lean Manufacturing preferred
Skills
Due to ITAR regulations, U.S. citizenship or Permanent Resident Alien Status required
Competency in Microsoft Office products, as well as Oracle, Agile, and Cumulus applications
Excellent analytical, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills
Ability to work in a cross functional team environment
Good problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to think critically and know who to talk to when questions arise
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a manufacturing environment
Work may involve working inside a cleanroom environment
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit and or stand for an 8-hour shift
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to wear cleanroom garments as needed
Ability to work in the area of strong magnetic fields
