PART TIME 24 HOUR DAYS POSITION
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, responds to inquiries from physicians, behavioral health providers, and the public regarding behavioral health treatment. Arranges for patient admission, transfer, and/or provides appropriate referrals to outside entities.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages crisis calls or patients who walk in with the use of de-escalation,
intervention, active listening skills and completes the following as applicable: welfare
check, duty to warn, adult or child protective service referral and/or contacting on call
psychiatrist and document appropriately. Contacts emergency personnel when
appropriate.
- Serves as a resource to all clinical areas within the organization and community for
the care, treatment, and disposition of behavioral health patients.
- Triages clinical calls or walk-in patients and referral to appropriate level of care
(routine, urgent, immediate).
- Completes the intake interview in a professional and concise manner, following
through with the appropriate departmental procedure depending on the type of
intake and circumstances.
- Responds to inquiries regarding behavioral health treatment. Determines
appropriateness of potential treatment(s) based on specific criteria as a
multidisciplinary team.
- Maintains knowledge about area agencies and resources available in our area and
can refer patients appropriately.
- Exhibits proficiency in computer programs including, but not limited to, Microsoft
Office applications, Leo (Lifeways), Web-Denis, MI-Health, Epic, Halo/Symplr, etc.
- Assists with work queue management for referred patients needing behavioral
health services.
- Maintains knowledge of and reviews legal documents including petition, clinical
certificate, voluntary admission forms, assisted outpatient treatment (AOT), etc.
10.Assists in the preparation and coordination of the admission and transfer process for
behavioral health patients, both internally and externally.
11.Completes insurance benefit and pre-authorization requirement verification as
appropriate.
12.Completes billing procedures, as necessary.
13.Performs other duties as related or assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or other related field of study. Minimum of one-year behavioral health experience or less than one year of access center intake and referral experience.
