POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Child Care Director and in the accordance with the association, the State of Michigan, and policies of the Northern Lights YMCA, the caregiver will be responsible for the health, welfare and happiness of children in his/her care. The teacher will provide direct leadership, instruction, safety and motivation for young children.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Create a positive environment conducive to children
2. Interact with children, act as a role model while implementing lesson plans
3. Maintain all YMCA standards and rules including building effective, authentic
relationships with students and parents
4. Be aware of all safety hazards. Implement first aid, CPR or AED training if necessary.
Be sure to record all injuries and accidents.
5. Help the lead teachers to create and implement lesson plans and support a structured
environment.
6. Be aware of the location of children at all times. A headcount is a must during transition.
7. Encourage positive learning and enthusiastically facilitate activities
8. Ensure safety and cleanliness of program area and equipment.
9. Interacts and engages with all children on their level (being on the floor/ground).
10.Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
11.Provide excellent service to children and parents.
12.Perform other related duties as required including working overtime
