Job Description
Under the direction of the MDOC Chief Psychiatric Officer, this position serves as the Woodland Center Correctional Facility (WCC) Psychiatry Department Director and Mental Health Authority and will supervise and direct the psychiatric providers and the services they provide in the inpatient mental health programs at WCC. This position also oversees an ongoing in-service training program for clinical staff to maintain and augment their clinical expertise. The person in this position will work closely with the Chief Psychiatric Officer, WCC Warden, Inpatient Mental Health Services Director and facility clinical and custody administrators and managers to ensure the appropriate provision of intensive mental health services to acutely and chronically mentally ill and suicidal prisoners referred from prison sites across the State. This position is responsible for working with the MDOC administration and the psychiatric provider vendor to ensure coordination of health care, psychosocial clinical services, and ancillary (supportive) psychiatric and medical services for prisoners on the inpatient units.
Required Education and Experience
Education
Possession of a medical degree from an accredited school of medicine.
Experience
Three years of professional experience equivalent to a Psychiatrist in a mental health facility or clinic.
Additional Requirements and Information
Possession of a license to practice medicine or osteopathic medicine and surgery in Michigan.
Positions in children's psychiatric hospitals will require board certification in child and adolescent psychiatry.

Leave Time
Full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 vacation days per year. Employees also receive 13 sick days per year and 8 hours of leave to participate in certain school functions or community activities. Paid Parental Leave
Provides eligible individuals up to 12 weeks of paid leave immediately following birth or adoption of a child.
Deferred Compensation
Employees may invest income in a tax-deferred retirement investment program. The state offers two optional deferred compensation plans, the 457 and 401(k). Employees decide the amount deducted from their paychecks.
Retirement
Employees receive a minimum 4% state contribution toward their retirement fund. If an employee elects to contribute more, the state will match up to 3%.
