The individual functions as the chief of clinical affairs at a state psychiatric hospital for approximately 155 consumers. Additionally, chief of clinical affairs oversees, directs, monitors and assures that all medical and psychiatric services are provided in accordance with applicable rules, regulations, standards and policies.
This individual shall maintain and demonstrate competency in identified areas to accomplish assigned duties and responsibilities. Individual demonstrates ability to evaluate the performance of the staff they supervise against criteria stated in their position descriptions. This individual assures age specific protocols are followed by staff under the supervision of the chief of clinical affairs.
Required Education and Experience
Possession of a medical degree from an accredited school of medicine.
Alternate Education and Experience
Senior Executive Psychiatrist Director 21
Four years of professional experience equivalent to a Psychiatrist in a mental health facility or clinic, including two years equivalent to a Psychiatrist Manager 19, or one year equivalent to a Psychiatrist Director 20.
Additional Requirements and Information
Michigan licensure to practice medicine or osteopathic medicine and surgery in good standing.
All positions require board certification in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology Inc.
Some positions may require unrestricted Michigan Board of Pharmacy license to prescribe level two through five controlled substances.
Some positions may require unrestricted U.S.D.E.A registration to prescribe schedule two through five controlled substances.
In accordance with Public Act 27- 29 of the Public Acts of 2006, the Department Health and Human Services will not hire individuals to work in state psychiatric hospitals/centers who have been convicted of a certain criminal acts as defined in the Public Acts.

Leave Time
Full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 vacation days per year. Insurance and Other Benefits
Eligible employees can choose from a variety of health insurance plans, including a PPO, HMOs, and a High Deductible Health Plan with HSA (effective January 1, 2021). Other coverage includes vision, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance, as well as tax-deferred Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) for health, prescription, dental and vision eligible expenses, dependent care expenses, and Qualified Transportation Fringe Benefits (QTFB). Employees also have the option to purchase additional life, accidental death, and long-term care insurance, auto/home insurance, identify theft protection, and legal services.
Paid Parental Leave
Provides eligible individuals up to 12 weeks of paid leave immediately following birth or adoption of a child.
Deferred Compensation
Employees may invest income in a tax-deferred retirement investment program. The state offers two optional deferred compensation plans, the 457 and 401(k). Employees decide the amount deducted from their paychecks.
Retirement
Employees receive a minimum 4% state contribution toward their retirement fund. If an employee elects to contribute more, the state will match up to 3%. The Office of Retirement Services administers two different retirement plans for State of Michigan employees: Defined Benefit (DB) (https://www.michigan.gov/orsstatedb) and Defined Contribution (DC) (https://www.michigan.gov/orsstatedc) . New hires can also receive up to a 2% employer match into a Personal Healthcare Fund and a lump-sum credit to a tax-deferred account if eligible.
