Shipping and Receiving Clerk: The Shipping and Receiving Clerk plays a crucial role in managing the flow of goods within TGI Direct’s warehouse. The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for preparing outgoing shipments and receiving incoming shipments. Their duties include organizing inventory for easy retrieval as new orders come in, reviewing incoming and outgoing shipment schedules to maintain productive operations and documenting damage to inventory.
Qualified candidates will possess the following Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- CDL preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years previous experience as a warehouse or shipping clerk.
- Previous experience using an inventory or warehouse management system.
- Basic computer and MS office skills.
- Understanding of shipping and receiving procedures.
- Strong communication and organization skills.
- Fork truck experience required.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards.
- An excellent work record, including attendance.
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds.
- Able to bend, twist, or kneel frequently.
Essential Functions:
- Manages the shipment and receipt of all products, materials, and supplies.
- Collaborates and communicates with customer service representatives, service providers, and others involved in the shipment and receipt of products.
- Tracks, traces, and updates the status of incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Maintains a clean, neat, and safe team member-ready area.
- Promptly unloads trucks and deliveries and sorts and stocks receivables.
- Maintains an accurate log sheet of daily moves, scanning inventory, and counting accurately.
- Engages with vendors and drivers with a positive attitude.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Standard Work:
- Follow pack instructions according to customer specifications and prepare for shipping.
- Perform other duties as required to support production as directed by the Team Leader.
Continuous Improvement/Lean Principles:
- Participate in and support lean initiatives such as continuous improvement events and problem-solving events, identifying and eliminating all types of waste.
- Suggest and implement ideas to increase personal and departmental efficiency.
- Anticipate problems and work to eliminate them before they happen.
Quality:
- Conduct quality checks per check sheet and quality alerts, including visual inspections.
- Stop production and notify a Supervisor or Team Leader when a non-standard condition is found.
Safety/5S:
- Follow all safety procedures, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), controls, and safety.
- Identify potential safety issues and take appropriate action, bringing to the attention of leadership.
Organization/Communication/Professionalism:
- Effectively communicate with co-workers and management personnel to enhance teamwork and communication initiatives.
- Provide necessary, accurate, and timely feedback of all pertinent information to co-workers and management.
- Consistently exhibit appropriate attendance habits, working the hours necessary to perform the job.
- Organize and maintain efficiency of personal work area.
- Accept instructions and duties in a positive manner.
- Treat all co-workers with dignity and respect.
