EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP: Just cause subject to probationary period
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under direction, performs administrative support tasks for the Director, Animal Control. Maintains all social media content for the department. Utilizes social media to promote adoptions, events, and overall departmental visibility. Oversees and develops Animal Control’s volunteer and foster programs. Plans and coordinates events such as adoptions, educational seminars, and fundraisers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists the public with information regarding Animal Control policies and laws as well as facilitating the process of reclaiming or adopting animals.
Manages and updates the “Adoptable Pets” pages on the Macomb County website and accompanying social media outlets.
Manages all social media outlets including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram.
Promotes the Macomb County Animal Control in a positive manner.
Oversees the Animal Control volunteer program including recruiting and retaining new volunteers, onboarding, scheduling, and maintaining files and other documentation for said program.
Administers the Animal Control foster program.
Plans and coordinates Animal Control events such as adoptions, educational seminars, department meetings, and fundraisers.
Assists with delivery of presentations at educational seminars, Board of Commissioners meetings, and the Office of the County Executive.
Operates an automobile to perform assigned job functions.
Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Marketing, Communications, Animal Sciences, or related field
- Three (3) years of professional experience with social media marketing, community outreach, volunteer program coordination, or similar experience
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Marketing, Communications, Animal Sciences, or related field
- Previous animal control experience
Required Licenses or Certifications
- Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and an operable insured automobile for authorized travel
