Job Summary
Assists in overseeing and directing the work flow of the Sterile Processing Technicians as well as equipment and supply issues in work area in accordance with established policies, procedures and Association of Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) standards. Provides input into the staff evaluations and assists with staff development on shift, as appropriate. Acts as a role model and resource to peers and other members of the health care team related to processing of equipment, instruments, and supplies.
Essential Functions
Oversees and provides daily work direction to Sterile Processing Technicians responsible for inspecting, disinfecting, assembling, processing and distributing patient care instruments, equipment and supplies.
Assist with staff assignments to maintain adequate workflow to meet changing needs on a daily basis.
Assist supervisor with performance evaluations, goal setting, and performance improvement. Acts as a role model and resource to peers and provides mentoring and support to subordinate staff to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
Performs the function of a Sterile Processing Technician including inspecting, disinfecting, assembling, processing and distributing patient care instruments, equipment, an supplies.
Accurately differentiates between instruments functionality and its specialty. Monitors performance of sterilizers, sonic, utensil washers and other equipment and fills out repair requisitions as necessary.
Qualifications
Required High School Diploma or equivalent
3 years of relevant experience sterile processing technician experience or related sterile processing Preferred
CRT-Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Tech (CSPDT) - CBSPD Certification Board for Sterile Processing & Distribution Upon Hire required Or
CRT-Registered Central Services Technician, Certified (CRCST) - IAHCSMM International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management Upon Hire required And
CRT-At least one License and/or Certification in area of specialty - UNKNOWN Unknown Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS)Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER)Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL)
Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER)
Certified in Sterile Processing Management (CSPM)
