Description Robert Half is seeking a Payroll Administrator who can process payroll and is proficient with Microsoft Office applications to fill a role. The Payroll Administrator position is a short-term contract / contract to permanent opportunity based out of Lansing, Michigan.

Handle other duties as necessary
Continue implementation of established policies and procedures to maintain payroll operations, reporting changes where necessary
Take charge of all questions and requests related to payroll
Compile summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages as part of report preparation
Payroll information management via collecting, calculating, and entering data
Manage and review, including verify, source documents
Handle specific weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports for department heads
Handle reconciliation of employee deductions and other relevant liabilities
Ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines
Calculate employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payments to establish payroll liabilities
Payroll record maintenance by tracking changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers
Secure confidential payroll operation information and maintain employee confidence
Resolving payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
Provide assistance as necessary for all internal and external audits related to payroll Requirements - Earlier experience working with various types of accounting software desired
Experience with high volume data entry
Well-informed in basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen
Knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations and requirements
2+ years of strong payroll experience
Reliable skills in Microsoft Office with excellent Excel skills
Understanding of internal controls
Prior experience working with high volume multi-state payroll, billing, licensing, AP, etc.
Benefits payroll experience
Certified Payroll detail oriented will be given preference
Skillful in analytical, quantitative and social skills
