The Role at a Glance
This position provides leadership, direction and functional expertise to ensure departmental results. You will direct and provide subject matter expertise on the design and execution of actuarial models and analysis. In addition, you will contribute to the development of Actuarial strategy and ensure the design and execution of actuarial models and associated analysis to enable and support fact based decision making by management.
What you'll be doing
Responsible for reserve assumption development for GP product lines, including leading recommendation communications with GP and Corporate Sr. Mgt. Oversees the development and partners in the implementation of reserving assumptions for GAAP, Stat, Tax for current products as well as any new product development initiatives.
Assess experience, source of earnings analysis, reserve adequacy, and forward-looking drivers to develop assumption update recommendations as needed for GAAP and STAT reserves, including communication of experience trends and drivers to Sr. Management (Internal GP, and Corporate AG leaders)
Direct the development of new and upgrading the quality of existing actuarial projection and A/E tools to leveraged into experience tracking and assumption setting.
Direct the execution of adequacy studies including runout analysis, prospective reserve adequacy studies including dashboard development, and related controls.
Responsible for construction and maintenance of Group Protection actuarial experience studies - including determining and implementing methodology changes, reviewing internal experience to identify material trends/changes, and delivering information to key stakeholders.
Partner with others in Valuation Leadership to assess reserves for potential adjustments as needed quarterly based on claims process changes, claims inventory issues or external factors affecting our view of a best estimate reserves.
Partner with others in Valuation Leadership to develop and implement enhancements to our data strategy (consistency of data output across updates/basis, historical restatements etc.) and ensure buy-in from key data stakeholders (ex. Pricing, Data Insights & Analytics)
Identify and direct the development of Regulatory Requirements and other External Requirements and partner with Valuation Reserving and Controls team to implement.
Ensure compliance with all internal and external audits related to items above, and promptly drive needed resolutions.
Directs and evaluates departmental performance and takes appropriate action to meet and/or exceed performance standards.
Contributes to the strategy development for actuarial trends, issues and/or concerns.
Directs actuarial projects with broad impact to the enterprise, delegating work and providing appropriate levels of support and responsibility to employees.
Partners effectively with various levels of management and other stakeholders to generate high-quality decisions.
What we're looking for
Must-Haves:
4 Year/Bachelor's degree (or equivalent)
10+ Years of experience years in actuarial science that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position, including 3+ years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience including influencing senior management/critical stakeholders experience
Upon Hire Certifications/Licensures: (FSA designation or ASA designation with additional years actuarial experience)

Pay Range: $140,701 - $256,200
Actual base pay could vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln's total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln's standard benefits package.
