Description
AdvantageXPO is now recruiting for a Senior Process Engineer for our client in Dayton, OH.
This position supports all aspects of manufacturing, with the primary goal of providing safe, robust, and cost-effective manufacturing solutions. The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for understanding the key design and process inputs and defines the “should-be” process based on these inputs. Once defined, the Advanced Manufacturing Engineer identifies the process requirements and implements the equipment identified solution. The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer is a critical member of the cross-functional team that works with the Product Development Engineers in the early stages of product launches to assure design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for automation (DFA). The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer is also responsible for continuous improvement of existing production cells, through implementation of industry best practices and automation.
Responsibilities:
Participate in design reviews as required.
Define the process for new product launches, including required equipment, process monitoring, and data collection.
Justify proposed solutions based on data from cycle-time studies, current labor costs, and capital investment required.
Implement production equipment according to product launch schedules utilizing a combination of external suppliers and internal resources.
Complete JEPDS (internal stage-gage) documentation for new product launches, including: PFMEA’s, Cpk studies, Process Verification reports, Work Instructions, and Control Plans.
Identify root-cause of failures through experimentation (DOE’s) and historical data analysis.
Monitor product lines and implement solutions which improve first-pass yield and improve production throughput in existing production cells.
Training of direct labor in newly developed or improved processes to ensure smooth transition to production.
Work with Design Engineering during the development phase to understand key product characteristics
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical, industrial, or equivalent)
Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
Knowledge of OHSA regulations pertaining to industrial manufacturing equipment/environments
3+ years’ experience supporting legacy product in a manufacturing environment
3+ years’ experience in value-added assembly
3+ years’ experience supporting new product development in a manufacturing setting
CAD proficient (AutoCAD, SolidWorks preferred)
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years’ experience in development and implementation of automated production lines capable of achieving sub-5-second cycle times
Understanding of ladder-logic and ability to create/alter PLC programs (AB/RSLogix)
Familiarity with automated data collection and machine learning
Experience working in a regulated field (Automotive, Medical, Aerospace)
