Scientist / Senior Scientist - Biopharmaceutical Analytical Development

Zoetis discovers, develops, and manufactures a diverse portfolio of animal health medicines, biopharmaceuticals and vaccines designed to meet the real-world needs of veterinarians and the livestock farmers and companion animal owners they support. Zoetis has the first monoclonal antibody therapy for treating atopic dermatitis in dogs. We are currently seeking to fill new positions to support our growing biopharmaceutical portfolio.
Zoetis Veterinary Medicine Research and Development, Analytical Sciences in Kalamazoo, MI is seeking an analytical scientist at the Scientist/Senior Scientist level.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Lead and oversee analytical method validation activities according to established guidelines and regulatory requirements
Develop and maintain validation protocols, ensuring they are up-to-date and aligned with industry best practices.
Generate, analyze, and interpret validation data.
Collaborate with quality assurance partners to ensure adherence to quality standards, data accuracy and integrity.
Provide guidance and support to analysts in troubleshooting method-related problems.
Stay updated on industry trends, guidelines, and regulatory changes related to analytical method validation and implement necessary updates to existing procedures.
Train and mentor junior staff members on analytical method validation techniques and procedures.
Manage an internal testing laboratory by facilitating day-to-day lab activities, incoming sample testing requests, and communications between testing laboratory and internal customers.
Design and conduct laboratory experiments including analytical method development, validation and transfer. Primary techniques are HPLC, ligand binding assay (e.g. ELISA), electrophoresis, spectrophotometric, and microplate assays.
Document and communicate results in laboratory notebooks, technical reports, and oral presentations.
Collaborate with other scientists in a variety of technical disciplines including within Analytical Sciences, Process Development, Biological Research, Regulatory, Quality Control and Manufacturing.
Minimum Qualifications:
BS with 7+ years of experience or MS with 6+ years of experience, or PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Biology or a related discipline
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively engage with partner groups
Good oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Two or more years of industry experience in developing, qualifying, validating, and transferring biopharmaceutical analytical methods
Understanding of analytical method guidelines issued by ICH, USP, EMA or FDA.
Experience in separation technologies including multiple modes for HPLC and capillary electrophoresis (e.g., SEC, RP-HPLC, IEX, icIEF, CE-SDS) for the analysis of complex proteins
Knowledge of biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes, including cell culture, purification, and formulation
