The Manager of Strategy is responsible for managing critical functions of the Emergent Holdings Strategy team. As a growth and diversification platform, Emergent Holdings is continuously evaluating new, innovative ways to grow and expand our businesses. Key responsibilities of this role include managing functions related to annual strategic planning and long-term strategy development, annual and long-term corporate goal development, as well as strategic evaluation of highly visible business initiatives and solutions, such as new product or market entry, strategic partnerships, joint ventures, or acquisitions. The position requires an understanding of multiple perspectives of health care corporate business, operational considerations and their impact to the division and broader enterprise. Primary focus is on Medicare Advantage insurance markets with opportunities to explore adjacent markets, including but not limited to opportunities in the property-casualty space and other government-sponsored health care programs. * Lead the business through strategy development to execution including managing workstreams, strategic engagement teams and cross-functional resources that support the strategic initiatives. * Manage and facilitate the enterprise-wide strategic planning process for both annual and long-term plans including collaboration with business leads, communication/coordination across multiple functions, strategy development and assessment, and planning/facilitation of executive strategy sessions. * Manage the creation and refresh of long and near-term performance metrics, goals and targets, including strategic and financial goals. * Serve as internal consultant or strategic evaluator of business initiatives and business solutions, such as new product or market entry; strategic partnerships; joint ventures; or acquisitions. * Perform or oversee strategic analyses and market research to inform key business issues and develop appropriate action plans from multidisciplinary perspectives. * Manage highly strategic projects or short-term internal consulting engagements aligned with overall strategy across business areas and functions. * Make significant contributions, and/or provide leadership to high visibility projects and committees to identify and resolve issues of strategic importance to the organization. * Act as strategy lead to oversee performance against key strategic and financial metrics, goals and targets. * Develop and evaluate market research, analysis, pro formas, budgets, work plans, etc. that support strategic plans and identify gaps, sensitivities, and risks. * Develop project deliverables including concept proposals, business cases, and presentations for executive leadership and Board of Directors. * Interact regularly with enterprise-wide senior management, vice-presidents, directors and managers. * Act as liaison between various levels of personnel to improve communications and implement strategic plans. Facilitate dialogue amongst these groups. * Manage the development of performance scorecards, metrics and dashboards. * Consult with executive sponsors and project leads on the status of initiatives in progress. * Mentor teams and division leadership in the utilization of best practices. * Support development of department goals, objectives, processes, procedures, and systems. QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's degree in business, health care, or related field required. Master's degree strongly preferred. Continuous learning is required. * Minimum seven years of progressively more responsible experience in strategy development, business development, consulting or related field with demonstrated technical knowledge that provides the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities. Experience in health care, particularly Medicare Advantage, highly preferred. * Ability to organize, analyze and interpret financial and management data and identify potential issues and/or opportunities, and conduct and interpret quantitative/qualitative analysis. * Prior experience leading an engagement team and/or peers through analysis and deliverables processes. * Strong conceptual understanding of strategic planning processes including development of goals and initiatives and work plan development. * Executive level presentation development skills, including storyboarding, development and delivery of key messages and concepts. * Demonstrated ability to work with (and understand the rank of) enterprise executives, senior management and external contacts. * Ability to apply the principles of independent logical, analytical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. * Prior experience developing and implementing scorecard tools and related measurements. * Ability to interact with others to build consensus and get decisions implemented. * Ability to maintain confidentiality. * Proven leadership skills in project management, planning and meeting facilitation. * Must exhibit efficiency, collaboration, openness, diplomacy, tact, discretion and judgment. * Must demonstrate leadership ability and team building skills to effectively supervise professional and non-professional staff and interact with all levels of management. The qualifications listed above are intended to represent the minimum education, experience, skills, knowledge and ability levels associated with performing the duties and responsibilities contained in this job description. PAY RANGE: Actual compensation decision relies on the consideration of internal equity, candidate's skills and professional experience, geographic location, market and other potential factors. It is not standard practice for an offer to be at or near the top of the range, and therefore a reasonable estimate for this role is between $102,400 and $171,500.
