Provides emergent, inpatient and/or outpatient medical care with the supervision but not necessarily the presence of a qualified physician member of the medical staff.
Takes patient history, performs physical examination, orders and interprets tests, makes diagnoses and institutes appropriate treatment programs.
Performs nursing functions independently. Works in collaboration with staff physicians, house officers, nurses and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved in a safe and efficient manner.
Specific procedures are individually credentialed as indicated by training and experience.
Works in one of the following departments: Cardiovascular Medicine, Emergency Medicine, ICU, Interventional Radiology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Surgery, Urology.
Must be a Masters prepared Registered Nurse who has graduated and taken the board certification within their chosen specialty -OR- Requires a Bachelor's Degree; completion of an AMA-approved Physician Assistant program; licensure as a Physician Assistant.
Must have no encumbering circumstances, which would prevent credentialing by the Henry Ford Medical board.
Requires licensure as a Certified Nurse Practitioner; licensure as a Registered Nurse -OR- Physician Assistant and be eligible or have obtained a DEA number for prescriptive authority in Michigan.
BCLS Certification required. ACLS Certification required in some departments as appropriate.
Requires certification in one of the following: ANA certification exam in a nursing specialty field; National Certification Corporation (NCC); National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Associates; and/or Certification from Michigan State Board of Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner (NP).-OR- Continuing certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
