Our growing client in Grand Rapids is seeking a Controller to join their team in this newly created role. The Plant Controller will be responsible for overseeing financial activities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing accurate financial information to support decision-making at the plant level. This role requires a strong understanding of financial principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with plant management to develop budgets and forecasts, monitoring performance against targets and providing insights for improvement.
Cost Management: Track and analyze production costs, identify areas for cost reduction, and implement cost control measures to optimize plant efficiency.
Inventory Management: Manage and reconcile inventory, ensuring accurate valuation and minimizing discrepancies.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies, keeping abreast of changes in accounting standards and industry regulations.
Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making, providing insights into plant performance and opportunities for improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with operations, procurement, and other departments to gather relevant financial information and foster effective communication.
Audit Support: Facilitate internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and ensuring audit readiness.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Proven experience as a Plant Controller or in a similar financial management role within a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and cost accounting.
Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
