Job Description/Preferred Qualifications
Do you like capturing your design ideas in a schematic? Is a PCB layout like an exciting puzzle to solve? If yes, our growing Ann Arbor team needs an Electrical Engineer with experience in Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) Design to assist in developing product equipment, test centers, software, and AI algorithms that power the innovative capabilities that KLA is recognized for. By joining our successful KLA team, you'll enjoy an incredible career with supportive colleagues in a spectacular place to live!
Responsibilities For This Exciting Role Include:
While developing PCBA-based solutions, you'll take the project through all phases. This includes defining requirements, and then solving exciting engineering problems by characterizing components, designing/prototyping analog front-end circuits. Next comes schematic generation, defining your test criteria for safety and functionality, coordinating PCB layout, and then debugging PCBAs in the lab. Taking the PCBA through testing and then releasing the documentation to production will complete a project!
We work in closely integrated teams, so you'll be supported during this process by other groups to develop the PCBA solution and ensure a perfect integration test at the subsystem and/or system level. Tight-knit collaboration skills are key. You'll help mentor junior engineers as we continue to grow our team.
You must have the flexibility for domestic and international travel based on business needs.
Skills
The successful candidate will have a strong background in technical project development, be an excellent communicator, and a standout colleague with the following skills:
5+ years of relevant experience preferred as a PCBA Design Engineer with strong Electrical Engineering and Physics fundamentals (analog, Optoelectronics design, electromagnetic theory, etc.), and FPGA design.
Able to write specifications and documentation necessary to initiate a project, and documentation for product release. This includes schematic entry (and board layout, preferably OrCAD and Cadence Allegro)
Proficiency in lab environments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, etc., with demonstrated analytical skills to make design decisions from the collected data.
Ability to work well with others in multi-functional/multi-discipline teams, and multi-cultural global organizations.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Proficiency in Spice and EM (electromagnetic) simulation, opto-electrical design, data analysis through MATLAB and/or Python, and Firmware development experience.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with +5 years' work experience, OR Master's degree with +3 years' work experience, OR PhD with 0 years' work experience
