Our Public Health Systems department efforts range from building the next generation technology in disease surveillance to optimizing data standards and system integrations to improve the coordination and delivery of healthcare for patients. You'll work in an Agile environment alongside a team of Software Developers, Business Analysts, and Public Health Analysts.
/>We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Architect specializing in Java-based web applications for the public health sector. As a Technical Architect, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing scalable and efficient software solutions to address the complex challenges in public health information systems.
ResponsibilitiesLead the design and development of scalable, high-performance, and resilient Java-based web applications that meet the specific requirements of public health systems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, system analysts, and project managers, to define and refine system architecture. Possess deep knowledge and hands-on experience with modern Java technologies, frameworks, and libraries commonly used in web application development. Stay abreast of emerging trends and advancements in Java development and recommend innovative solutions to enhance the technology stack. Implement robust security measures to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of public health data. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards governing the handling of sensitive health information. Design systems that can handle large-scale data and user loads while ensuring optimal performance. Identify and address bottlenecks and performance issues proactively. Effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, fostering collaboration and understanding. Work closely with stakeholders, including software developers, project managers, and public health experts, to understand requirements and provide technical guidance. Work closely with project managers to align technical solutions with project timelines and goals. Conduct regular code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and architectural guidelines. Set development process practices and expectations. Use extensive industry experience to guide and lead organization goals. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system architecture, design decisions, and implementation details. Facilitate knowledge transfer within the team and ensure documentation is up to date. Qualifications BS or MS degree in computer science. Proven experience (3+ years) as a Technical Architect or a similar role in designing and implementing Java-based web applications. 10+ years of experience working on Java/J2EE applications, strong knowledge of Object Orientated Programming, and experience with multiple databases. Strong Java fundamentals and experience with Spring or Spring Boot, Hibernate, JSON and XML. Experience architecting/developing web applications using micro service architecture. Technical development experience with REST/SOAP web services. Experience with modern front-end frameworks and libraries (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js). Strong understanding of database design, performance tuning, and data modeling. Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerization technologies. Experience with modern SDLC tools - Git, JIRA, Artifactory, Jenkins/TeamCity, OpenShift, Gradle Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and a quick learner. Comfortable working with multiple teams, dispersed nationally, and remote. Excellent written and verbal communication at both the business and technical level.? Experience in developing prototypes of new concepts and technologies. Experience in software development methodologies and standards, test-driven development, data analysis, and reporting. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Effective communication and leadership abilities. Preferred Qualifications Master's level-degree, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience Experience in the public health sector or related domains. Certification in Java or related technologies. AWS or other cloud technology certifications. Familiarity with health data standards like HL7 / QRDA III / FHIR and interoperability. Experience with SOLR, Power BI, or Tableau Mobile development experience Logistical Requirements At this time, we will only accept candidates who are presently eligible to work in the United States and will not require sponsorship. Our organization requires that all work, for the duration of your employment, must be completed in the continental U.S. unless required by contract. If you are local to our offices in Arlington, Silver Spring, Ann Arbor, or Portland this role will be hybrid. Must be able to work during eastern time unless approved by your manager. ABOUT ALTARUM:
