BCBSM is seeking a Principal Network Architect to join our Technology Strategy & Planning team. This position is focused on the domain of Networking and Security Architecture, Architecting modern networks across the enterprise and enabling cloud-based solutions with appropriate networking and security architectures and designs. Departmental Requirements: * Experience with developing network and security strategies, roadmaps and architecture models aligned with business and technology strategies and outcomes based on sound enterprise architecture practices * Experience with developing network and security architecture artifacts (architecture models, guiding principles, patterns, standards and related taxonomy) * Full-stack knowledge and experience of IT infrastructure including on-premises and cloud platforms with experience migrating to the cloud * Experience with vendors and technologies including but not limited to Cisco, Checkpoint, Genesys, Zscaler, ZTNA, MPLS, DIA, VPN, VLAN, IPSec, SDWAN, VoIP, Wi-Fi, Cellular, Broadband and more * Minimum 10 years of experience with roles aligning to Network Infrastructure Architecture and Engineering * Experience with industry regulations, standards, and frameworks (HIPAA, HITRUST, ISO, NIST, PCI, OSI etc.) * Experience in Healthcare Industry would be an added advantage * Suitable network and security certifications preferred Provide support for architecture discipline as defined by departmental requirements. Provide overall direction, guidance, definition and facilitation for the development of an architecture and its use within the enterprise to deliver business value through technology. Support the planning and decision-making process to determine the fit of technology components into the enterprise architecture. Create technology strategy, vision, roadmaps, business and IT capability models, and conceptual and logical design. Work collaboratively with product, platform and service owners to evolve and align the technology vision including evaluation and selection. Work as a lead or internal consultant on the most complex assignments and/or projects/programs that require in depth technical knowledge of multiple fields of specialization, such as security, cloud, information/data, integration, technical or business. * Lead all aspects of architectural vision and strategy development, including environmental analysis, opportunity identification, value cases and technology innovation portfolio development. * Guide other architects and IT leaders in the communications and implementation of roadmaps. Ensures that the architectural strategy is aligned with business goals. * Define principles that guide technology decisions and the relationship between enterprise business context (industry and market trends) and specified technology. * Apply a system-wide view when working with product, platform, and/or service owners and business leaders, when needed, to understand business requirements and help them understand how technology trade-offs influence strategy. * Work with business peers to develop and present business capability models and roadmaps to facilitate discussion and decision making with stakeholders across the enterprise. * Create, modify, and approve logical designs and architectures by reviewing end-user topology, security, performance, and interoperability requirements. * Lead the evaluation and selection of software product standards, as well as the design of standard software configurations. Guide the design of enterprise-wide initiatives to integrate systems. * Lead post-implementation continuous-improvement efforts to enhance performance and provide increased functionality. * Lead architectural collaboration with other IT teams in the management of technical change, verification of testing results, and monitoring of technical standards compliance and deployment. * Develop, motivate, and mentor IT members to create a team environment. Coach and mentor team members. * Consult on application or infrastructure development projects to fit systems or infrastructure to the technical architecture and identify when or if it is necessary to modify the technical/solution architecture to accommodate project needs. * Evaluate and advise on options, risks, costs versus benefits, system impacts, and technology priorities in highly complex situations. Advise, collaborate with, and lead product and delivery management on reporting status, issues, risks, and benefits. * Direct the research and evaluation of emerging technology, industry, and market trends. Confirm technology recommendations are based on business relevance, appropriate timing, and deployment complexity, and makes final recommendation. * Collaborate in the creation of governing principles to guide architectural governance decision making. Lead and facilitate architecture governance processes and meetings, and hold governance roles, based on architecture's governance mechanisms. * Lead teams in developing plans, assessing improvement options and ongoing quality activities across the enterprise. QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's degree in related field required. Master's degree in related field preferred. * Ten (10) years of experience in IT and business/industry (architecture design and deployment, systems lifecycle management, infrastructure planning and operations, etc.) with five (5) years of technical leadership and relevant architecture experience (information solutions, business, technology, etc.) required. * Exposure to multiple diverse technologies and processing environments required. * Extensive self-motivation and risk-taking abilities. * Extensive experience in decision making and critical and strategic thinking. Ability to analyze situations, reach productive decisions and maintain focus on key success factors. * Extensive experience with client relationship management to determine and satisfy client needs and maintain a partnering relationship through communicating, presenting, facilitating, managing and developing others. * Ability to develop and integrate new ideas and initiatives that improve the performance of the organization. * Ability to drive consensus on complex matters involving diverse stakeholders where there may be varying points of view. * Knowledge of all components of a holistic architecture. APPENDIX: Enterprise * Provide overall direction, guidance, and definition of technology architecture to effectively support business strategy.
