The Northern Michigan University (NMU) School of Nursing (SON) is seeking a three-year term instructor to teach in undergraduate courses and complete departmental service beginning August 2024. This position has a Medical-Surgical focus and requires strong clinical skills. This position is a campus-based position with responsibilities for teaching in the clinical environment as well as in the classroom. |

Required Specialized Training/Certifications: |
The candidate must possess a current unrestricted Michigan RN license or have eligibility for licensure in the state of Michigan. Must possess American Heart Association (AHA) CPR Certification. Preference to have certification prior to starting employment. |
Required Minimum Work Experience: |
Three years of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) Experience in the medical-surgical nursing hospital environment |
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: |
Knowledge of principles and processes for interacting effectively with others Ability to effectively communicate with students, peers, clinical affiliates, and administration. Knowledge of curriculum development and delivery principles. Ability to teach traditional face-to-face and lab-based classes. Knowledge of accreditation requirements. Ability to advise students. Evidence of ongoing professional development. Evidence of relevant clinical hospital work experience. Ability to manage one's own time and that of others |

Ability to teach across the nursing curriculum. Teaching experience in a Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited university setting. Experience with CCNE accreditation process. Work experience in a clinical environment that trains undergraduate nursing students. Experience advising students. Experience recruiting students. Experience with computer-assisted instruction. Experience with teaching clinical simulation. Experience in the development and assessment of coursework. Experience with office software (i.e. spreadsheet, presentation, word documents). |
