Overview (Scope of Role)
The Environmental Specialist will have the primary focus of developing, implementing, managing the Environmental program while serving as the Environmental resource for Trinseo Midland. This position is onsite, located at the Midland, MI facility.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Translate environmental rules and regulations into workable practices for the Midland sites. Be available to all employees for questions related to environmental rules and policies and ensure they are empowered to act as independently as possible.
Staying fully aware of all Environmental Laws and Regulations, assess their applicability and ensure their implementation in the Midland Site. Spent time on field audits and documentation checks and use the information acquired to strengthen the programs.
Ensure all environmental reporting needs are documented, planned and executed with precise and accurate information, in a timely fashion.
Examples of Key Responsibilities as Functional Specialist
Manage air and waste permits. This includes submittal of permit applications for new and modified equipment, requests for permit changes and submittal of permit renewal applications to ensure continuous license to operate
Collect, input and calculate EH&S reporting information
Manage submittal of all permit and regulatory required agency reports. Maintain all EH&S records in accordance with the company record retention policy.
Utilize EH&S Expertise to obtain clear interpretations of site-specific regulatory process, regulations, laws and associated procedures
Act as Agency Visit Protocol Owner
Able to identify and keep current with local requirements. Interpret, implement and ensure full sustainable compliance with those external requirements
Performs record keeping / filing functions.
Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements.
Provide influential leadership and coaching for EH&S Delivery Techs.
Provide environmental expertise for project reviews
Assist their facilities in response to unplanned events.
Provide subject matter expert review of facility MOC's.
Lead projects targeting environmental performance and compliance improvement within facilities.
Works with third party waste disposal vendors to ensure compliance with all disposal regulations
Completes annual GEI reporting
Qualifications
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in EH&S, Engineering or science field with EHS Experience
4+ years safety and health experience
Certified Safety or Environmental Processional
Experience with external regulatory requirements both at the federal and state level
