Mary Free Bed is a not-for-profit, nationally accredited, rehabilitation hospital with 167 inpatient beds - 119 acute and 48 sub-acute. There are numerous outpatient programs as well as home and community services. Summary:
Maintains adequate levels of supplies and equipment on the nursing units.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
A. Assists the Central Supply Coordinator as follows:
Maintains adequate levels of sterile and non-sterile supplies, equipment and utensils on the patient care units.
Cleans, assembles and packages equipment, supplies and instruments according to terminal cleaning and sterilization procedures. Rotates stock to ensure sterility.
Receives and examines all purchases. Attaches charge tickets to all chargeable items. Records stock numbers and maintains appropriate records.
B. Maintains equipment in proper working condition and notifies the Central Supply Coordinator of defective equipment in need of repair.
C. Maintains competency according to Competency Program requirements.
Other Job Responsibilities
Assists on the nursing unit on an as needed basis.
Customer Service Responsibilities:
Demonstrates excellent customer service behaviors consistent with organizational and departmental standards. Consistently promotes teamwork and direct communication with co-workers. Deals discretely and sensitively with confidential information.
Responsibilities in Quality Improvement:
Contributes by identifying problems and seeking solutions. Promotes patient/family satisfaction where possible; participates in departmental efforts to monitor and report customer service.

Initiative/ability to work independently.
Organizational & communication skills.
B.C.L.S. certification.
Professional mannerism in dealing with nursing staff, physicians, patients, visitors, etc.
Physical Demands: Able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (up to 1/3 of the time); able to lift, carry, push, pull, up to 50 pounds occasionally; able to sit for the majority (1/3 - 2/3) of the time, but may involve brief periods of time involving walking or standing; able to use keyboard frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time); ability to perform work of medium demand involving standing, sitting, pushing carts, & lifting articles.
