Description: The Mixer Operator operates and tends machines that mix materials or ingredients used for production processes or manually mix ingredients. Loads materials into mixing equipment and ensures results comply with specified batch requirements. • Department: Production • Reports To: Production Manager • Education and Experience: High School Diploma/ GED preferred Minimum 2 years' experience in manufacturing and equipment operations (food manufacturing experience preferred) • Work Hours: 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM - 7:20 AM • Work Environment: This job operates in a food production and warehouse setting. The floor surface is concrete. The noise level is moderate with no vibration. Material movement takes place throughout the facility. • Core Responsibilities: • Maintain all GMP and Food Safety rules at all times. • Be the example in following GMPs, OSHA Safety, and all other procedures. • Take appropriate corrective measures to reduce and eliminate quality issues in a timely fashion • Produce product based on customer formulation specifications • Own processes associated with product hoppers; ensure machine is assembled properly according to procedures and product is loaded into the hoppers in a timely manner • Ensure all mixing is in accordance with formula card for quality assurance • Record and update logs of various feed formulations mixed daily • Make sure equipment is operating properly, cleaned and maintained to ensure proper and continual working condition if mill operation • Keep management informed of any errors or issues in the mixing process • Assist in any area of production as requested by the production superintendent, plant manager or supervisor • Learn and follow cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices) in Feed Mixer's Guide • Other duties as assigned by plant management • Proactively keep machine areas, floors, and bins clean, wiped down, and free of hazards throughout shift, in accordance with standards, procedures, and expectations. • Other duties, as assigned • Competencies: • Comprehensive in practices, procedures and techniques involved in food manufacturing • Has interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy • Uses proper lifting techniques • Oral and written communication skills • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English • Shop Math Skills • Excellent Communication Skills • Trained Skill Competencies: • Batching • General Mathematical Skills • Assemble/Disassemble Equipment • Clean Equipment • Adhere to LOTO procedures • Knowledge of Lot Code System • Accurate Record Keeping Abilities • Effective Communication Skills • Sensory Evaluation Knowledge • Problem Solving Abilities • Physical Demands: • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work on their feet, while using tools to perform repetitive actions • Hearing and speaking to exchange information. • Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling moderately heavy objects as assigned by position. • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate bagging equipment. • Reaching overhead, above shoulders and horizontally. • Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching. • Seeing to monitor food quality and quantity. • The ability to stand and walk for an entirety of a shift You Should Be Proficient In • Excellent Communication Skills • Mechanical Troubleshooting Skills
