We are 100% employee-owned, with regional and project offices nationwide. Our transportation practice is seeking a staff or senior civil roadway design engineer for our Chicago office.

In this position, you will be a part of a skilled team that values everyone's contributions to a project. Project management will be a key component, as well as supporting other PM's on larger projects.
Responsibilities
Ground floor of transportation work in the Michigan market supporting our Detroit civil transportation lead on marketing efforts.
Engineering work activity supporting existing project work in our national transportation market, especially Chicago.
Work with a multi-discipline team of engineers and technicians in the design of roadway transportation projects, or related linear civil project work.
Assist team leaders (PM's) with various project duties when support is needed.
Performs tasks requiring applications of standard civil engineering techniques and procedures.
Standard design of civil project work.
Serve as a team member on multidisciplined projects.
Works with senior staff on technical aspects of a project.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field with a preferred emphasis in civil roadway transportation engineering.
Minimum 3 years; 6 to 10 years preferred working in the related civil roadway transportation industry preferred.
Experience to include the development of contract documents as it relates to drawings and specifications.
Ability to lead tasks and be proactive in moving these tasks forward
Ability to work as a part of a multi-discipline teams of engineers
Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and presentation skills
Ability to perform under pressure and tight deadlines while working on multiple projects concurrently.
Knowledge of traffic engineering methodologies and standards including but not limited to the Highway Capacity Manual, the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, etc.
Knowledge of design software including OpenRoads Designer/Microstation, Autocad, Excel and Word.
Experience or desire to get involved in business development via external meetings and/or proposal support for research and technical writing.
Experience working with municipal agencies and DOT's.
