Position Summary:
The Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining hard floor surfaces and carpet surfaces while maintaining cleanliness standards for assigned areas. Follows all safety and health standards.
Accountabilities:
Follows the Seven Step Cleaning Procedures and department Floor Care Maintenance Procedures for assigned areas.
Thoroughly cleans patients' rooms and/or patient areas.
Cleans lobby areas, public restrooms, stairwells, corridors and elevators. Vacuums and spot cleans carpets.
Flexes to meet department needs and objectives.
Practices cost effective measures.
Maintains confidentiality in all matters regarding patients, the hospital, the department and human resources. Complies with HIPAA regulations and patient Bill of Rights.
Maintains responsibility for own professional development.
Performs other duties as directed.
Required Qualifications:
Education - High School Diploma.
Skills - Ability to read English. Ability to use floor equipment, carpet extractor, automatic floor scrubber, high and low speed buffers, wet vacs, upholstery cleaners and vacuum cleaners, and perform minor mechanical repairs on the equipment. Strong organizational skills with ability to work with minimal supervision.
Working Conditions:
May be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, hazardous materials and waste. Maybe exposed to blood and other bodily fluids. Employee must frequently lift and/or move/carry heaving cleaning supplies and equipment that weighs up to 50 pounds. Pushing and pulling mops and electric and battery powered equipment.
