Job Description: Buyer responsible for sourcing and procurement of parts for engines and transmissions.
Essential Functions:
Plans and implements activities related to the procurement of raw materials, goods and services.
Compiles and analyzes statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives.
Approves and qualifies vendors, obtains quotes, examines bids and makes awards. Follows up on all awards through completion of order.
Negotiates with suppliers and analyzes suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and to determine lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.
Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends, and maintains necessary records.
Follows applicable anti-corruption ethics, laws, and regulations.
Ability to interact with ERP/MRP and other related computing systems.
Must have the ability to interact with all levels of management both internal and external.
Helps make moderate to substantial improvement or enhancements to systems and processes to improve performance of Supply Chain Organization.
Opportunities for problem solving and innovation are complex and may require comprehensive information gathering, analysis and investigation to understand the problem.
Problems typically involve consideration of multiple issues, job areas or specialties. Problems are generally solved through creative solutions, drawing from prior experience and in-depth analysis of issues.
Level/pay for this position will be commensurate with experience.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Associates Degree and a minimum of 8 years prior related experience.
Minimum education and years of experience requirements are not to be used exclusive of other leveling factors. Substitution of additional relevant education and experience for stated qualifications may be considered.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Knowledge of International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR) requirements.
Knowledge of FAR and DFAR compliance preferred+ Procurement experience in a defense related industry preferred.
Ability to assess operational efficiency and capability at suppliers across a variety of commodities.
Has a thorough understanding of ERP and demand management utilizing multiple provisioning strategies.
Experience with both Firm Fixed Price (FFP) and Cost-reimbursable type subcontracts is desired.
Candidate must be proficient with Microsoft (MS) Word and Excel and must be able to work in a multi-task, fast-paced, team environment.
Strong negotiation skills.
Knowledge of and desire to implement lean and process improvement initiatives.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Prepare request for proposals (RFP) and bid packages.
Negotiates and settles with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations, and engineering changes.
