Location: Hybrid - Overview: Support the PM LAV office as an engineer overseeing a variety of efforts to facilitate the sustainment of the PM LAV vehicles. These efforts will include the development of processes and partnerships to make use of additive manufacturing and condition-based maintenance in order to ensure the sustainment and readiness of PM LAV vehicles, to include both legacy vehicles as well as platforms that are currently in development.
Essential Job Functions:
Serves primarily as the Platform Engineer for the Family of Light Armored Vehicles (FoLAV) Current Fleet. Interacts with the Depots, Program Executive Office (PEO), other Program Management Offices (PMO), DLA, ILSC, GVSC, and other Government agencies on a regular and routine basis.
Provides technical and programmatic support to the LAV Fleet Sustainment Team (FST). Assist with activities involving component obsolescence and life cycle, including identifying of alternative parts and recommend solutions, to include the use of Additive Manufacturing (AM). Lead AM efforts for PM LAV and work with PEO LS and GVSC to understand the process as it relates to sustainment of legacy platforms and future vehicle platforms, such as the Advanced Reconnaissance Vehicle (ARV).
Maintain current awareness of readiness issues and problem areas for assigned platforms and work within the command to solve readiness issues. Lead efforts to integrate Condition Based Maintenance (CBM+), working with the PEO LS, other PMOs, GVSC, and other government entities as it relates to sustainment of the FoLAV and the ARV program.
Participate in developing an ARV & LAV Technology Roadmap, as it pertains to AM, CBM+, and other technologies.
Manage Engineering Cost Proposals (ECPs) or other Technology Insertion projects, tracking cost, schedule, performance, and integration. Participates in engineering analyses, technical assessments, trade-off analyses, business case analyses, value engineering, and resolution of technical or operating problems. Facilitates integration and coordination within the PMO, the Depots, and other external organizations.
Required Skills:
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 8 years of experience or Master's degree with 6 years of experience.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
Familiar with Systems Engineering and DoD Acquisition processes.
Familiar with systems/subsystems for Ground Combat Vehicles.
Experience managing projects tracking cost, schedule, and performance.
Knowledge/experience in performing engineering analyses, technology assessments, trade-off analyses, business case analyses and value engineering.
Knowledge/experience with system level obsolescence management and tools used for resolution and reverse engineering of obsolete components.
Knowledge/experience in working with Logistics to ensure the vehicles get updated to the latest fielded configurations.
Knowledge/experience with Technical Data Packages. This includes some level of expertise with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, producibility, and overall engineering review for the drawings/specifications.
Travel up to 25%.
