Deputy Circuit Court Clerk I

Duties:

• Performs clerical, bookkeeping and secretarial tasks within the office of the County Clerk, including maintenance of an accurate record and information retention system.
• Responds to confidential requests for information from citizens, attorneys and others.
• Provides information, collects fees and prepares certified documents.
• Enters, updates and retrieves information utilizing a computerized recordkeeping system.
• Processes charges and payments of fees; posts payments manually and by computer; balances receipts.
• Prepares and processes various records and documents; ensures appropriate documentation is prepared, signed and distributed.
• May schedule hearings and case conferences.
• Receives and reviews case files to determine applicable hearing; notifies all parties to be present at hearings and instructs them of court date and procedures.
• May substitute for court clerks on a needs basis.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one year of office experience, preferably in a legal or governmental organization.
