GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under direction, provides assessment, linkage, and referrals to consumers seeking Macomb County Community Mental Health (MCCMH) services. Provides direct and indirect clinical services. Determines eligibility, severity, and intensity of services needed. Reviews requests for services from a utilization management perspective. Utilizes Person-Centered Process and Family Centered Practice concepts. Maintains clinical and administrative records; coordinates, consults, and provides liaison work with other agencies and systems. Ensures that service authorizations are current; implements program goals and activities in keeping with program philosophy. Contributes expertise from professional discipline to team planning and treatment processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs direct clinical services, a majority of which are provided via telephonic interaction, including telephone screening of referrals, assessments for children, adolescents, and adults, crisis intervention, treatment plans and case management, and short-term treatment interventions.
Completes case documentation following MCCMH policies and procedures.
Participates in case consultation to confirm diagnosis and suitable restrictive clinical recommendations, and assists clients and/or family in obtaining appropriate programs and resources.
Completes screenings for a variety of populations, SMI, SUD, IDD, including priority populations (i.e., suicidal callers, pregnant substance users) to determine clinical need for urgent, emergent, or routine services.
Processes electronic and telephonic requests for psychiatric hospitalization and other crisis services.
Designs, implements, and monitors behavior management programs for agency clients.
Completes and maintains Community Mental Health and Department of Mental Health statistical and activity reports.
Maintains appropriate contact with hospitals, agencies, and other service providers to coordinate consumer care and referrals, acts as liaison for consumer needs.
Requests appropriate authorizations for services provided; monitors utilization of services, and request re-authorizations or continuations as appropriate.
Serves on Community Mental Health or community-based committees.
Operates an automobile to perform assigned job functions.
Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education and Experience
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or Doctorate in Psychology or a directly related mental health field from an accredited college or university
- Two (2) years clinical experience working in a mental health setting
Preferred Education and Experience
- Previous experience in utilization management
- Knowledge of Macomb County Provider Network
Required Licenses or Certifications
- Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Limited Licensed Master of Social Work (LLMSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Limited License Professional Counselor (LLPC), Temporary Limited Licensed Psychologist (TLLP), or Licensed Psychologist (LP)
- Possession of required state licensure appropriate to position and ability to meet privileging and credentialing guidelines
- Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and operable, insured automobile for authorized travel
Preferred Licenses or Certifications
- Certification with the Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP) or an approved development plan
