EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP: Just cause subject to probationary period
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under direction, performs case management activities, initiates and responds to interstate child support enforcement requests, analyzes factual situations and determines appropriate course of action for an interstate situation, summarizes and analyzes information for the purposes of updating interstate resource. Corresponds in written and electronic form with other inter-governmental agencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interviews applicants to obtain information necessary to prepare the petition in the format required by Federal Regulations.
Investigates and examines business, personal or public records and documents to establish facts and authenticity of data in the context of support contributions.
Collects and analyzes documentation necessary to petition other jurisdictions for enforcement assistance as it relates to child support.
Collects, analyzes and integrates relevant information concerning changing laws and regulations involving interstate enforcement of child support.
Conducts support investigations and prepares orders on interstate cases as warranted.
Establishes and maintains a case management database.
Schedules and completes required status requests to other states and countries following the issuance of petition for assistance.
Processes routine responses to interstate inquiries and requests for documentation.
Reports to Judicial Service Officer/Attorney, Enforcement Division Director, and/or Friend of the Court on progress of cases, as directed.
Prepares and/or serves legal papers, as directed.
Operates an automobile while performing assigned duties. (if applicable)
Performs related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education and Experience

Associate Degree, preferably in Business, Accounting, Psychology, Social Work, Paralegal Studies or a related field from an accredited college or university

Previous experience in investigative techniques and/or analytical responsibilities in a court setting
Required Licenses or Certifications

Legal terminology and proceedings, the court system in the State of Michigan, and Friend of the Court policies and procedures

Interstate law (UIFSA, URESA, Full Faith and Credit Friend of the Court systems; including the Michigan Child Support Enforcement System (MiCSES) and OnBase Imaging System
