Overview
POSITION SUMMARY:
As part of the multidisciplinary team, under the direction of a radiologist, the radiology technologist performs radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. They are responsible for performing technical procedures that may require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. They perform patient intake by collecting medical history and must be able to answer patient questions regarding the imaging procedure. They follow specific instructions from providers on what areas to image and guide patients through the imaging process safely and comfortably. In addition, they operate imaging equipment proficiently, have a firm understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the human body, demonstrate knowledge of proper imaging techniques (i.e. positioning and technical factors) in special populations such as children, the elderly, and patients with debilitating conditions and may confer with providers on the results of imaging tests and collaborate to determine whether additional images are required.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates degree in Radiologic Technology.
Licensed with IEMA
ARRt (R) registry eligible
Must complete ARRT registry within 6 months of hire
American Heart Associaiton BLS
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with routine diagnostic procedures in General Radiology, experience in customer service/patient experience setting.
