SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
Location: Trinity Health PACE Corp, Livonia MI

Position Purpose:
Responsible for assisting in the development and maintenance of accurate financial information for assigned areas of the general ledger; general ledger account analysis and reconciliations and financial statements for the Health Ministry ("HM") and Market Record to Report ("R2R") shared services area. The Senior Accountant is expected to demonstrate problem solving skills as related to healthcare financial operations and an understanding of external, regulatory, payor and other forces impacting health care financial operations including US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ("GAAP") and other regulatory reporting requirements, IRS regulations, etc. Maintains awareness of new industry developments and standards.
What you will do:
Prepares and analyzes monthly financial statements, prepares written summaries to senior management ensuring accurate reporting of financial information analyzing cash, receivables, payables, debt, equity, fixed assets, revenues and expenses.
Establishes and maintains positive relationships with leaders from HM, Service Area, Trinity Health, and related entities and exhibits the ability to maintain confidentiality. Responds to requests for information.
Demonstrates the ability to organize, prioritize, and multi-task in a diverse, fast paced environment.
Prepares monthly accounting entries, including support, for input into the PeopleSoft G/L system (or current general ledger system) for entities and accounts assigned in accordance with established timelines.
Reconciles, analyzes & adjusts general ledger accounts in accordance with established timelines.
Meets all deadlines in a timely and proficient manner. Notifies manager when issues are identified.
Keeps manager informed timely of any significant changes or decisions required.
Completes special projects, financial analysis, and research. Identifies and implements opportunities for process optimization and efficiency enhancements within the accounting function.
Responsible for timely implementation of agreed upon audit recommendations related to areas of responsibility. Assists in annual 990 and other tax returns and accumulation of financial information to support community benefit reporting. Assists in preparation of sales and use tax reporting, local personal property tax reporting, annual escheatment of unclaimed property reporting, mandatory government surveys and others related reporting. Completes inter-company billing, cash transfers, and reconciles inter-company balances with system office and other HMs.
Assists with completion of year-end financial reporting package and preparation of year-end audit work papers as assigned. Assists Manager with work relating to both internal and external audits, the periodic review of financial records, and financial statements including Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (grants; "Uniform Guidance" or "Single Audit") and other RHM specific audit requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance.
Minimum of three years' experience.
Experience working with US GAAP and conducting financial analysis including experience in researching and analyzing accounting issues.
Must possess ability to develop, review and interpret financial information and strong analytical skills.
CPA and healthcare experience is preferred.
Experience with Peoplesoft GL, Hyperion (HFM) or Smartview a plus.
Demonstrates the ability to organize, prioritize, and multi-task in a diverse, fast paced environment. Ability to adapt to frequent interruptions, shifting priorities & stressful situations.
Demonstrates excellent customer service skills as well as effective and respectful written, verbal and nonverbal communication. Develops an environment of mutual confidence and trust through collaborative relationships, and proactively recognizes, addresses and/or escalates organizational, operational, or team conflicts.
Proficiency with Microsoft product suite (MS Word, Excel, Power Point). Ability to use other software as required to perform the essential functions of the job.
Position includes occasional lifting, up to 30 pounds unassisted and use of computer. Includes continuous sitting and may require rare long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling & pushing.??
Position may require occasional overnight travel.
