Location: Elmira, Michigan SUMMARY: Administers policies relating to all phases of human resources activity by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Promotes safety awareness, injury and illness prevention, and employee involvement to ensure a safe work environment. This would include promoting the People-Based Safety programs. * Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions. * Recruits, interviews, tests, and selects employees to fill vacant positions. * Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals. * Generates and maintains records of personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, attendance, disciplinary notices and terminations. * Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs. * Administers payroll to ensure compliance with company policies. * Administers benefits programs such as vacation pay, bereavement leave, sick leave, leave of absence, work clothes and employee assistance program. * Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations. * Posts memos on job vacancies. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS SPHR or PHR certification a plus. If there is no certification, the candidate selected would be expected to complete the SHRM-CP program.
