Title: Certified Medical Assistant
Reports To: Clinical Manager
SUMMARY
Cares for and treats patients in medical office, as directed by Provider, by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Prepares patient for and assists with examinations.
Administers vaccine, injections and medications, dresses wounds and incisions, interprets Physician's instructions to patients, assists with emergency and minor surgery, and performs related tasks as directed.
Updates records of vital statistics and other pertinent data of patient.
Cleans and sterilizes instruments and equipment, and maintains stock of supplies and medications.
Conducts specified laboratory tests and/or procedures.

EDUCATION
Minimum education - completion of a Medical Assistant Program. Passing Certification Exam required.
CLINICAL SKILLS
Practice Standard Precautions including handwashing, aseptic technique, infection control and disposal of biohazardous materials. Proficiently perform diagnostic testing. Ability to perform all aspects of patient care. Understanding of and ability to apply approved standing orders and protocols.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, equipment instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with patients and in a group setting.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate dosing, quantity, proportions and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse or Certified Medical Assistant Degree.
