Your New Role
Under the direction of the human resource manager, the human resources generalist is responsible for the management of the human resources department Magna Electronic Vehicle Structures - Michigan (MEVS) which includes improving the quality of work life for all employees and providing leadership to all management to support policies and procedures in accordance with the Employee's Charter. The human resources generalist is a contact for employees on issues regarding policies and procedures in support of all Managers, supervisors, and the human resources manager. Serves as a resource for cases involving workers' compensation.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
Responsible for supporting, providing direction, and/or auditing Human Resources activities in assigned areas of responsibility which may include recruitment and hiring, apprenticeship program, orientation/onboarding, training, disability & FMLA, benefits administration, E-Time administration, attendance, continuous improvement activities, requisitions and job posting process, performance appraisals, pay progressions, maintenance or personnel files, progressive discipline, terminations, layoffs, and exit interviews.
Develop and ensure all company policies and procedures comply with applicable government legislation and the Magna's Employee's Charter.
Develop, maintain and continuously improve the effectiveness of Human Resources programs, policies and procedures, including Employee Relations, Staffing/Retention/Motivation, Employee Orientation, Training & Development, Communications, Compensation, Payroll & Employee Benefits, Organizational Development, Organizational Change, and Succession Planning.
Support the Open Door Process (e.g., Employee Advocation, Fairness Committee, Hotline Investigations.)
Assist with the development and continual updating of company policies and interpretation, including employee handbook.
Provides guidance, counsel, and problem-solving support to managers, supervisors, teams, and individuals.
Manages personnel placement by supporting activities in employee recruitment, hiring, and staffing of plant and office positions including placement of physically restricted employees.
Coordinate in the recruiting activities of direct hire team members to support plant and program requirements. This may include advertising, scheduling, interviewing, and assisting if needed with post-offer screening and scheduling orientation. Ensures the process is followed in a timely and effective manner (requisitions, postings internal/external, candidate review, scheduling, reference checks, offer letters, rejection emails, follow-up, etc.).
Respond to employee issues, concerns, suggestions, and complaints within a timely manner.
Maintains current on employment law updates and communicates changes to those effected by the changes which may include other human resources personnel, management, and supervisors.
Composes new job descriptions, coordinates performance appraisals, and approves salary changes for employees.
Prepares and provides key performance indicators as needed for areas of responsibility and as requested by management.
As a Human Resources Generalist you will
Bachelor's Degree, major in Business Administration or Human Resource Management or other related field
SHRM or PHR certification a plus.
3+ years Human Resources experience.
Must have experience working in a manufacturing environment
Automotive experience a plus.
Previous Recruiting experience is a plus.
Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and HRIS systems.
