Position Overview
Prepare detailed cost estimates for the manufacture of precision metal castings and machined components for the defense, aerospace and specialty equipment industries.
Primary Responsbilities:
- Analyze customer requirements, technical drawings, CAD and associated specifications for the manufacture of precision engineered metal components
- Develop a scope of work, tools and equipment required for each project
- Determine labor, material, process hours and outside costs needed for each project
- Ensure an accurate and timely response to customer Request-for Quotes
- Collect cost data and solicit feedback from functional team members and subcontractors
- Utilize and maintain company provided estimating software
- Regularly review and update costing data to endure accuracy
- Develop methods and practices to improve quoting and improve quote output
- Become familiar with Barron Industries’ lost-wax investment casting process and related manufacturing services
- Understand, follow, and implement AS9100 systems and procedures as appropriate to your department and/or area of responsibility
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years cost estimating experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with metal casting or machining preferred but not required
- Proficient in reading technical blueprint drawings and understanding GD&T
- Knowledgeable in the use of CAD software
- Able to read and understand engineering documents
- Strong math skills
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, suppliers and customers
- Knowledge of Microsoft office including Excel
- Engineering degree helpful but not required
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
