Job Summary:
A Materials Handler III (Forklift Driver III) - utilizes systematic approaches to loading/unload shipments, ensuring shipments are correct, material handling, maintaining an accurate physical inventory, and assisting with maintaining an organized and safe warehouse. This position is also responsible for providing direction, training, and leadership for other warehouse associates. Working as a materials handler doesn't require formal education but does entail extensive on-the-job training. A materials handler has a very structured work environment to minimize safety risks. Each job is planned in detail and safety issues are addressed before a job begins.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Work alongside and with the team in a hands-on role, assisting the department supervisors by directing the workflow and serving as a member of the department's Leadership
Responsible for ensuring maximum productivity and efficiency within the assigned areas
Receives direction from Warehouse Supervisor and/or Manager and carries out instructions based on the given directive
Responsible for following and enforcing all safety policies
Support and follow directions from all supervisors/managers and complete tasks with minimum supervision
Performs duties to support the operations of production, warehouse, and inventory teams
Find solutions to routine production issues
Be agile and flexible in strategizing to ensure priorities are always in order
Adequately communicate with associates and counterparts via verbal and email
Train new employees on standard operating procedures, safety guidelines
Provides employees guidance on how to properly perform their tasks
Responsible for the performance and productivity of their team
Track individual daily productivity and give suggestions for improving group performance
Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations
Champion a safe workplace
Assist other work teams during times of high demand
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Must be knowledgeable in GMPs or the willingness to learn.
Ability to obtain forklift certification within 90 days.
Ability to operate stand-up and extended forklifts.
Sufficient math skills .
Must have the ability to understand and follow all safety policies and procedures.
Ability to read and write in English preferred.
Job Qualifications & Experience:
A high school diploma or GED certification and be at least 18 years of age, required. Previous Materials handling experience required.
Must be forklift certified within 90 days.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs. Must be able to "side shift" and have worked with stand-up forklifts and extended forks.
