Region 7B (MWR7B), the Administrative Agency for Re-Entry Success in Regions 3 & 5, working in contract with the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC), is eagerly seeking highly motivated candidate(s) to work as the R3 Re-Entry Success Specialist covering the northeast Michigan counties of Alpena, Alcona, Iosco, Ogemaw, Oscoda, Montmorency and Presque Isle. Your home office will be determined based on residency and availability of office space. MWR7B has been a partner with MDOC since this initial program, Michigan Prisoner Re-Entry Initiative, began in 2007. Programs like this, and our teams efforts in the 19 counties we serve, have helped Michigan achieve the fourth lowest recidivism rate in the nation at 23.6 %.
The vision of the Michigan Re-Entry Success model is that every individual released from prison will have the tools needed to succeed in the community and the opportunity to utilize those tools to be productive, self-sufficient citizens. From day one of their release from a state correctional facility, you will diligently work with returning citizens to help them navigate challenges as they transition back into society. Staff will perform intakes and assessments identifying barriers and strengths and work to address immediate needs, short and long term goals and will help them develop a plan and path leading to sustained financial and residential success. To help achieve this, staff will work collaboratively with clients and their parole agents with a strong focus on assisting individuals find suitable employment and sustainable housing. You will also help provide and coordinate assistance involving social supports, mental health and substance use treatment and coaching; while mentoring and providing guidance along the way. Through regular contact with individuals, staff will monitor their client's well-being and success, coordinating proper assistance as needed. Your efforts and guidance gives them a greater chance of achieving self-sufficiency and overall success, sustained quality employment, permanent secure housing, and mental and physical well-being, which are all contributing factors towards the goals of reducing recidivism and developing productive citizens.
Qualified candidates will go through a screening, interview and hiring process which will include a complete background, reference check and criminal history LEIN check performed and approved by MDOC and MWR7B. All factors will be considered in this decision. A clear criminal history is not required. Candidates with lived experiences may be considered. Experience with providing services to difficult or diverse populations, or previous human service or criminal justice experience is desirable. MWR7B reserves the right to reject any application.
