The Community Health Technician position is located within the Women, Infant, Children (WIC) Program of the Health Department in Clinton Twp.

EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP: Just cause subject to a probationary period.
CURRENT HOURS AND STARTING TIME: Part-time position (Less than 30 hours per week). The starting time for this position is currently 8:30 a.m. Occasional evening clinics.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under supervision, assists in performing various screening and testing duties in an assigned program area; schedules appointments; maintains records and forms necessary for the delivery of services; assists in compiling information and preparing reports; performs related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs screening, testing, referral and follow-up activities; may be required to provide outreach services to clients in the community.
Maintains accurate records, completes and/or dispenses forms and benefits relevant to the program and necessary for the delivery of services.
Schedules appointments and conducts follow-up on clients as needed.
Produces, electronically and manually, a variety of materials, including forms, receipts and other correspondence according to established procedures or specific instructions.
Assists in the collection of data and compiling reports.
Enters information on records and forms.
Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment; keeps appropriate records accordingly.
Sees and hears with corrective measures for conducting vision and hearing tests as well as taking blood pressure.
Performs routine clerical functions.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
- Possession of a high school diploma or a certificate of successful completion of the General Educational Development Test
- One (1) year of experience in a healthcare or public health setting performing health screenings
Required Licenses or Certifications
- Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license, operable automobile and insurance
Preferred Education and Experience
- An Associate Degree in Community Health or related field from an accredited college, or successful completion of an accredited medical assistant training program
- Experience in speaking and understanding a language other than English, including but not limited to Spanish, Arabic, or a Central European Slavic language (e.g. Bosnian, Serbian, Croatian)
