Title: Refugee Systems of Care Specialist

Location: Remote/Virtual - Must Live in Michigan
Purpose:The Refugee Systems of Care Specialist position will provide critical supports to the home visiting system in Michigan as it adjusts to better meet the needs of unique refugee populations in the state. By supporting assessment, training and technical assistance, and data tracking, this position will act as an important connector between home visiting programs and the best/promising practices that allow them to reach and serve refugee communities. As a founding position within the Home Visiting and Refugee Families Connection project, the Refugee Systems of Care Specialist will be a sentinel support in the design and implementation of the overall project.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assessment and Planning
Support the design and completion of an initial environmental scan of refugee responsive home visiting practices.
Support the design and completion of a needs assessment of home visiting programs and programs serving refugee families to home visiting and sustaining engagement.
Learn, understand, and respond to the needs of home visiting programs to better serve the needs of refugee populations.
Explore and suggest model and programmatic enhancements to improve cultural responsiveness and trauma informed practices.
Training and Technical Assistance
Educate and inform home visiting programs about the Home Visiting and Refugee Families Connection project.
Represent the Home Visiting and Refugee Families Connection project at relevant meetings.
Through one-on-one and group supports to local implementing agencies (LIAs), develop, and provide trainings and workshops aimed at educating LIAs on refugee and trauma centered best and promising practices.
Data Tracking
Support strategies to track reach, effectiveness and work statement expectations of the Home Visiting and Refugee Families Connection project.
Collect ongoing feedback from key partners, including refugee populations and local home visiting programs, on Home Visiting and Refugee Families Connection project.
Administrative/MPHI Responsibilities
Attendance at meetings and/or conferences as needed.
Support other work of the Center for Quality Family Support (CQFS) and the Michigan Home Visiting System, as needed.
Participate in ongoing strategic planning and other special projects for the Center for Quality Family Support, Center for Healthy Communities, and the company.
Maintain position-specific and MPHI-required internal training requirements.

Qualifications/Requirements:
Education: A bachelor's degree is required; however, a combination of education and experience equivalent to a degree will be considered to best meet the needs of this position.
Experience: One to three years' experience with home visiting, systems planning and improvement and working with the refugee population in Michigan preferred.
ImportantSkillsand Characteristics:
Experience working directly with refugee populations required.
Experience with systems of care focused on the needs of refugee populations.
Experience in scaling up programs from concept to implementation preferred.
Ability to speak at least one language of local refugee populations encouraged.
Basic awareness of human service programming/systems.
Knowledge about and experience with home visiting preferred.
Ability to be a self-starter and be able to work well independently and with a team in a virtual environment.
Experience in basic techniques of environmental scanning, needs assessment, and planning.
Ability to assess local home visiting staff training and support needs related to local refugee populations.
Knowledge of developing educational sessions and related materials/communications.
Meeting facilitation skills.

Proven ability to work effectively with others.

Must live within the state of Michigan and be able to travel throughout the region in focus.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Position is remote with expectation of attendance at scheduled in-office and community-based meetings. MPHI provides a workstation that includes a laptop computer, two monitors and a docking station. Employee must provide an adequate workspace that is for designated work time and high-speed internet connection. Regular meetings will take place via video conferencing. Occasional in-person meeting attendance required. In-state residency and travel required. This position involves viewing a computer screen 50-100% of the time.
