1. Ability to stop machines to remove completed product or to change tooling, setup, or product placement, according to required machining sequences.
2. Able to observe a specific machine during operation to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration, and adjust machines to compensate for problems.
3. Check on product to verify product is properly lubricated and cooled during machine operation.
4. Proficient in measuring dimensions of completed product to make sure product meets specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
5. Knowledge of machines enough to be able to remove and replace dull cutting tools.
6. Skilled enough to execute changes to each machine program, and enter new specifications, via a computer.
7. Responsible to set up and operate CNC machines and/or robots to perform one or more machine functions on metal and/or plastic product.
8. Physical ability to stack or load finished items, or place items on conveyor systems.
9. Proficient with a computer enough to insert control instructions into machine control units to start operation.
10. Expertly able to mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
