Essential Job Functions:
Establish and maintain database architecture standards and best practices Participate in the evaluation of emerging technology and tools.
Maintain the governance model on the database architecture through training, design reviews, code reviews, and progress reviews.
Work with development teams to establish various Azure data stores.
The Azure Data Architect will be required to analyze an array of product offerings and business requirements within the organization.
Participate in the development of Database Architecture and Roadmaps in support of business strategies.
Analyze existing data design and suggest improvements that promote performance, stability and interoperability.
Work with internal and external resources to develop robust Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) processes for disparate data sources.
ETL, data integration and data migration design.
Strong proficiency in relational database management systems (MS SQL Server) and NoSQL databases.
Data modelling and data architecture design.
Working within a project management/agile delivery methodology in a leading role as part of a wider team.
Designing and implementing Azure Data Analytics solutions.
Outline the organizations data management & governance standards/principles.
Expertise in selecting & using data modeling tools & technologies.
Document, oversee and implement data flows, data monitoring, and data pipelines.
Experience with enterprise data integration strategies (IPaaS).
Data Security & Compliance with respect to protection (rest and intransit).
Rollout and monitor application controls and upgrades.
Monitor database space and capacity, estimate sizing and growth requirements.
Database performance tuning, review & tune complex SQL statements.
Maintain Backup and Recovery procedures.
Assume ownership of database related problems; pursue short and long-term problem resolution and root cause analysis.
Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to solve database level issues including availability and stability of the database environments.
Work with vendors and application support teams to gather information, determine and implement resolutions.
Proactively research and identify database level patches and upgrades.
Maintain standard operating procedures specifically focused on stable database environments.
Develop and maintain shell scripts required for database monitoring and performance metrics.
Mentor PL/SQL development team and data management analysts.
Regular and consistent attendance and availability

Qualifications:
Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize day-to-day responsibilities; Detail oriented, highly focused, and very organized; Ability to maintain a high level of energy and enthusiasm; Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships.
8-10+ years of experience in SQL/NoSQL/Managed DB Architecture.
Azure Experience (specifically, Azure SQL Management).
Azure Data Factory.
Azure Cosmos experience a plus.
Proficiency in performance and tuning database environments within Azure.
Computer Skills: Working knowledge of power point, word processor, spreadsheet, other PC applications, ability to adapt to new technology as it becomes available.
Communication Skills:
Ability to excel in a team environment required. Must be able to successfully interface with various departments. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Analytical Skills:
Strong analytical skills required with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to source, disseminate and properly apply secondary research
Travel:
Occasional overnight travel.
