Job Purpose
Senior EV Systems Engineer with Dana Inc. will support the development of integrated electrified powertrain and vehicle systems for the Commercial Vehicle Business Unit. Your task is to understand and interact with the client's engineering team to deliver a BEV that exceeds expectations in regard to BMS, powertrain, DC/DC, OBC, HVAC, cooling, brakes and power steering. Your workplace will be very dynamic, fact paced and will include many different tasks, from the development of systems architecture to the creating from scratch of simulation models, right through commissioning prototypes trucks. You can expect to lead the design and development of new and innovative electric vehicle system from concept to production with an emphasis on the electrified powertrain portfolio.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Develop complete electric vehicle systems, subsystems, and components to improve and expand Dana's EV product portfolio with a commitment to improving vehicle safety, performance, and fuel economy.
Lead all vehicle-level system activities with a team of systems engineers on a specific OEM program, including vehicle-level feature definition with customer, requirements definition and coordinate with hardware and software teams to write lower-level requirements ensuring full-system definition and traceability
Collaborate closely with validation team to define test cases at component, system and vehicle level, and ensure every requirement can be tested and traced.
Collaborate with vehicle integration team to ensure Dana instrumentation is integrated into vehicle or system benches and functioning per design
Develop and manage system level engineering and quality documentation (Boundary Diagrams, Interface Matrix, DFMEA, DVP&R, Functional Safety, etc.).
Plan test property needs for full validation coverage (virtual analysis tools, test benches, vehicle mules, etc.)
Develop initial sourcing and manufacturing strategies in collaboration with Purchasing and Manufacturing organizations.
Follow Program Management and Stage Gate development processes to progress and meet project goals including budget, timing, and quality of deliverables.
Work with suppliers to design and procure hardware.
Perform analysis using CANalyzer and either Matlab or Simulink
Document and track all issues discovered by validation testing activities and lead root cause analysis and issue resolution efforts with the development teams.
Identify competitive benchmarking needs and work in partnership with benchmarking organization to collect required data.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems or related field required and 4+ years of experience in systems engineering
OR
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems or related field required and 2+ years of experience in systems engineering
2+ years of experience in product development and validating either Hybrid vehicle systems or sub-systems or Electric vehicle systems or sub-systems
5+ years of experience in leading engineering design activities with design partners/ suppliers
Experience in the automotive industry preferred; focus on powertrain systems design
System related training or certifications preferred
